How Meditation is Linked to Stress Relief
Today, our world is so bright, flashing and noisy - a plethora of unwanted, unsolicited and intrusive messages and images are flooding our neurons causing extreme overstimulation of the brain cells. We can’t handle this. We’re not supposed to handle this. This is not natural. It is not conducive to the way in which our brains are organized. As extremely complex and miraculous machines, they are adaptable but not to a level such as we have forced it. The receptor neurons cannot literally regulate nor change in order to handle and compartmentalize this chaotic disaster we call modern life.
This being said, the alarming number of millions of Amercians on psychotropics such as, anti-depressants, anti-anxiety’s, mood stabilizers, prescription narcotics, legal drugs such as alcohol, caffeine and nicotine and the entire range of illegal drugs, give us a glaringly obvious clue that there is a problem.
For every problem, there is a solution. Meditation is a step into a new world, one where today’s world disappears. When we learn the relaxation, deepening and protection techiniques with faithful practice and willingness, we may be freed from this overload. We may be free from dependence on substances that we use simply to function. With an open mind and a true desire for relief, anything is achievable.
Continue the relaxation and deepening practices. If you are able to stretch first, that is helpful. Keep trying the different ideas I’ve mentioned - daily, for one week and then we’ll move on. This is an educational experience where we learn new ideas, new methods and gain new hope for a stress-free life. Yes, I said stress-free, it is possible. Of course, you’ll have moments and meltdowns but they will pass so easily through your brain and body that your functioning will return to its natural state. Your brain and body will thank you. And you will thank yourself.
